Sunflowers are bright, beautiful giant flowers that give us smiles on our faces. If well looked after, they can last up to two weeks in the vase after harvest. Sunflowers are one of those flowers susceptible to air embolism. In simple words, the air in the stem inhibits the water intake. Thus, without doing anything the flower will be dehydrated. Boiling is

the conditioning we do with sunflowers straight away after harvest. A tip for the consumers, if the sunflowers have to be cut to fit the vase or for another reason become subjected to heat and turned dehydrated, cut the stem and boil about an inch of the bottom stem for 20 seconds and place them in the vase with tap water at room temperature. Check the water in the vase every day because they drink a lot of water.
