Some people like to do their wedding flowers themselves to save money and some do it to have a personal touch.

There are a few things to consider if you want to DIY your wedding flowers. Are you (or an appointed person) comfortable working with flowers? Do you or your helpers have at least 8 hours the day before your wedding to make the wedding flowers?

Do you have friends or family that will help you source the flowers from the supplier, condition them after pick-up in the right area and right temperature and help you arrange the flowers? Do you know how to condition the flowers sot that they stay fresh and will not wilt on the day of the event? These are all to be done before the wedding day.

To DIY your flowers will take a lot of time, planning and assistance from other people. You must have also some knowledge about the flowers you are going to use, how to condition them especially on hot days and how you are going to arrange them and make into bouquets and reception flowers. It can be stressful and the worst scenario is when you run out of time and the wedding have to start while the mess left on the floor after doing the flowers haven't been cleaned up.

Do not rely on your friends and family effort if they are not 100% up for it. If you are really on a restricted budget, I suggest that you give your florist a figure you are willing to spend and they will create the magic for you. If your budget is not enough for what you desire to be delivered, the florist will give you alternatives or adjustments on the design to be done or the flowers to be used. If you cannot afford the price quoted by the florist, you have to cut back on expectations. You have to realise that the wedding flowers that you see on Pinterest comes with a price. Some big weddings could be quoted for example, $5,000. It requires a week work for two experienced florists. It will involve so much time for caring and conditioning and temperature is to be considered. Thus, something like this is not for DIY.

Wedding flowers are time-consuming and required skills. This is the reason behind why wedding flowers are priced as they are and not as cheap as the everyday flowers that we can buy.

Wedding flowers have long-lasting impression on guests and are forever in your wedding photos. You would like them to be presented beautifully. Consider that when you are deciding if you want to DIY your wedding flowers or if it has to be left in the creative hands of a skilled florist.
